Cleaning Pigs (Construction Phase)
Foam Pigs
· Open-cell or closed-cell polyurethane foam
· Lightweight, compressible (passes bends, tees, reduced-bore valves)
· Used for initial cleaning, debris removal, drying, and swabbing
· Replacement frequency: High (disposable)
· Available with wire brush or abrasive coating for light rust removal
Mandrel Pigs
· Steel or composite central body with urethane guide discs and cleaning brushes
· Configured with wire brush, urethane scraper, or combination
· Longer service life than foam pigs (requalify and replace polyurethane parts)
· Can accept gauging plates or magnets
Batching & Separation Pigs
· Used to separate different products in multi-product pipelines
· Full-bore sealing with polyurethane cups or discs
· Bypass ports optional for controlled flow behind pig
Gauging Pigs
· Aluminum or steel gauge plate mounted to pig body
· Detects internal diameter restrictions, dents, ovality
· Used during construction to prove minimum pipe ID before hydrotest
· Gauge plate diameter: Typically 95% of minimum pipe ID
Dewatering & Drying Pigs
· Foam pigs with high-density polyurethane shell
· Multiple pig train for progressive drying after hydrotest
· Used with compressed air or nitrogen push
Brushes & Blades
· Wire Brushes: Carbon steel or stainless steel wire for rust and scale removal
· Urethane Discs / Cups: Sealing and scraping elements
· Gauge Plates: Aluminum GA (Gauge) plates for ID verification
